The markets have fresh aloe leaves in, which inspires a change up in my go-to breakfast smoothie. I have raved about aloe before, it has so many healing properties, did you know that the stomach and GI tract surfaces are the same as your outer skin? That means that an aloe smoothie is very soothing to your innards. Treat yourself to an aloe smoothie.

After washing your aloe leaf, cut off the bottom 3/4″ and peel the outer green skin to reveal the clear gelatinous filet. Today I had pineapple, a few strawberries and a quarter of the peeled leaf to blend for my drink. 3 out of 4 local plant people thought it was delicious, the 4th (whimp) was afraid to taste it. (!)

A pansy planter out in front of my house is accompanied with wheat grass that was sporting an early morning dusting of dew. For the adventurous adding a few pansy flowers and a sprinkling of wheat grass to the smoothie will kick it up a notch.
