What is the connection? Salt? Your Mother? Your mother brought you life and salt is a basic element of life, but all things in moderation….

Salt is the primary seasoning but did you know that “the primary attraction of salt in history and prehistory is its use as a preservative.”  I hope you can make time to come to the greenhouse & barn in Greenland on Saturday afternoon and check out our salt tasting event presented by chef Didi Davis of Salt Traders.

We have some wonderful new cards from Kin of Kin and Saturn Press, beautifully created with a blank space within for your personalized sentimental greetings. Many of us don’t have our birth mothers present but we can take this opportunity to honor the important people who mother us in our lives.

Flowering Baskets

Is the weather breaking? Are we on the road to warmer nights and being able to plant our flowers? Only the grand mother (earth) knows, but you may plant with caution. We have many cold tolerant flowers and the plants that prefer warmer temperatures can go in if you promise to pay attention to any cold warnings! Here in New England we traditionally wait until after Memorial Day to plant tenders, and with good reason. Until the nights warm up and the temperatures are consistently in the 50-60 range your tender plants will just sit there and pout waiting for warmth. Be patient or be diligent!
